Kaladhaara literally means the flow or support of the arts. The aim of Kaladhaara is to promote Bharatanatyam through exposure, education, and experience..For the past 14 years, Divya and Swathi Krishnan have been dedicated in learning the art form of Bharatanatyam. Through their organization, Kaladhaara, they hope to continue to share it with their community.

Swathi spent a year at the renowned Kalakshetra Foundation as a second year student in the diploma program in dance. Currently she is a a Biology and Anthropology double major at the University of Chicago.


Divya has also learned from noted artists in India, including A. Janardhanan, former Kalakshetra principal and Smt. Shyamala Balan of the Swaralaya Dance Academy in Chennai. Divya completed an engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and currently works in finance.


They completed their training with Dr. Nalini Rau, founder and director of Natya Anubhava Academy of Dance (NY). Dr. Rau was awarded the Natya Navaratna award, in 1999, for her work in Bharata Natyam by the former president of India, Mr. Venkataraman under  the auspices of  Natyakalalayam. She is a disciple of the  illustrious Guru Kalaimamani Dakshinamoorthy Pillai of  Delhi. She has studied dance with Gurus U. S. Krishna Rao and Chandrabhaga Devi.
